Computer Keyboards

A computer keyboard is
what you use to type with on a computer. Most keyboards nowadays are QWERTY keyboards, which
means that the letters Q - W - E - R - T - and - Y are the first six letters of the keyboard as
you count from the top left side.
Computer keyboards
have been in existence as long as there have been keyboards. In fact, in comparison to the
mouse, the keyboard dates back a lot earlier.
Computer keyboards are
mostly formatted after typewriter keyboards, and remain the most common means of human-computer
interaction.

Even
though there are many ways that humans can input information into a computer, the keyboard remains the most
useful and popular form of interaction.

Keyboard
keys usually have symbols on them, which represent functions that the key in question can perform.
Traditionally, keyboards have been considered devices for inputting letters, numbers, and symbols into text
style documents and word processors, though nowadays the keys can perform any function that the software has
them set to perform.

Some computer keyboards are designed to function differently than standard keyboards. For
example, there are gaming keyboards that allow you to do things like save key combinations.
There are also keyboards that are made of a flexible material, allowing the keyboard to be
folded up when not in use.
There
are also computers that allow you to type entire syllables instead of just individual letters or
syllables....these types of keyboards are popular with court reporters and closed captioning reporters, because
they allow a typist to type extremely fast.
There
are also ergonomic computer keyboards, and computer keyboard stands, that are specifically designed to help reduce wrist fatigue
that can lead to carpel tunnel for typists. These keyboards are angled in the middle to relieve muscle pressure
associated with prolonged stints at a keyboard.
